Why We Love Coconut Oil So Much!!!
We are currently in the process of restocking our supply of COCONUT OIL, one of our most favorite oils! Why do we love it so much? For so many reasons!
First of all, COCONUT OIL has so many health benefits! COCONUT OIL has a variety of MCT fats, meaning Medium-Chain Triglycerides. MCT oils are known for quickly metabolizing as ketones, which is a better energy source than glucose for the brain. In fact, there are many reports highlighting the positive effects of giving coconut oil to Alzheimer’s patients.
COCONUT OIL is a wonderful oil for oil pulling. It is great for skin and hair. We’ve talked about how it helps the brain. It can even be a good weight loss tool, as it increases metabolism and satiety. In fact, the more we research, the more we find how crucial good fats are for health and weight loss, and this is an excellent fat. Also, we are good friends with the manufacturer, and know how clean and careful his processes are.
It is high in Lauric Acid, another MCT, though slower in digestion. But, it is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal. This makes it an EXCELLENT storage oil. We’ve never seen it go bad. Through oxidation, it may turn yellower in color over time. But it is still good to use.
COCONUT OIL has a higher smoke index than many oils, so it is better for frying. We don’t deep fry often, but when we do, we’re so grateful to have a healthier oil option. We love to use it when we make fry bread and fried chicken!
And can we talk about flavor for a second? Some may think it’s a little iffy with that coconut flavor. For baking, actually, it is ideal, adding extra sweetness without extra sugar. Some people may not think about doing savory cooking with it, but the more we do, the more we love it. We made a gravy with it a while back just because it was handy. Oh my goodness! The best gravy I’ve ever had. And we all know the staple for a good biscuit is butter, right. Think again! I made some recently using part butter and part coconut oil. Wow! I crave those now. And of course, it is a must for popcorn! And everything seems to turn out lighter and flakier with it. We just LOVE it!
There really is nothing to lose with this oil. Maybe it’s more expensive than canola or vegetable oils. But you’ll see the benefits. And it has come down substantially in price over the past few years. At $205 for a 5-gallon bucket, it’s cheaper than standard-processed olive oils. We also carry gallons ($56.00) and quarts ($21.00). So come give it a try and tell us what you think.
