Ingredients
- 1 cup softened butter (or 3/4 cup coconut oil at Sage and Plow)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (Organic Cane Sugar at Sage and Plow)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla (Mexican vanilla at Sage and Plow)
- 2 cup all-purpose flour (Specialty Baker's Flour at Sage and Plow)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt (Real Salt at Sage and Plow)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar (Organic Cane Sugar at Sage and Plow)
Instructions
- 1. In a medium bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until combined. Then add the eggs and vanilla, adding the eggs in one at a time and mix.
- 2. Slowly pour in the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom in the mixing bowl. Mix until the dry ingredients are just combined.
- 3. Chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
- 4. When you are ready to bake the cookies preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- 5. Combine the remaining 1 tsp ground cardamom with the 3 Tbs of sugar on a plate.
- 6. Shape dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Roll the dough balls in the cardamom/sugar mixture. Space the balls about 2 inches apart because they will spread.
- 7. Place on baking sheets with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
